Document Shadow Removal
Removing document shadows refers to the process of eliminating or reducing the appearance of shadows in scanned or photographed documents through image processing and enhancement algorithms. Shadows can be caused by uneven lighting, paper folds, or objects casting during scanning, which can degrade the readability and quality of the document, affect the clarity of text and graphics, and hinder accurate information extraction. This technique improves the visual appearance of the document by adjusting the brightness, contrast, and other properties of the shadowed areas. It is applicable in scenarios such as optical character recognition (OCR), document analysis, and digital archiving. In recent years, machine learning and deep learning methods have also been applied to document shadow removal, using trained models to automatically detect and remove shadows, further enhancing the processing results.
